The flood primarily affected the mountainous areas of northern Nepal before continuing downstream along the rivers into the interior of the country. Among the hardest-hit areas are parts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha districts. The flood destroyed homes, swept away dozens of bridges and damaged dozens of kilometres of roads. Access to some mountainous areas remains extremely difficult due to damaged infrastructure.

The situation may become even more challenging in the coming weeks as temperatures begin to drop with the arrival of autumn. For families who have lost their homes or are still living in temporary conditions, immediate supplies of essential relief items as well as long-term support will therefore be crucial.

From the very beginning, ADRA Nepal has been coordinating its response with local authorities, the police, the army and humanitarian partners. So far, assistance has been provided to 140 households, including:

🛌 Mattresses
🛏️ Blankets
🪢 Ropes
🚰 Water purification tablets

But the response does not end here. ADRA Nepal is now developing a plan for long-term support in healthcare, livelihoods, sanitation and mental health. This longer-term assistance will be essential to help people gradually rebuild their lives and return to a safe and dignified life after the disaster.
